Water Scarcity
  •  Agriculture uses approximately 70% of the total water used.
  • (OECD Data) Over the next 30 years, the population is estimated to double.
  •  So the water demands will increase by 15%.
  • This means we may face a worldwide water scarcity if we do not take proper steps today.
  •  There is a pressing need for efficient water usage.
  •  A lot of work is happening to make water usage efficient.
  •  To achieve this, 4.0 technologies are giving us high hopes and good results.
  • Advances in sensors are helping us collect adequate data.
  •  For example, by using IoT sensors on the farm, we can gather critical data like soil moisture, temperature, etc.
  •  Based on this data, water can be supplied to crop at correct times and improve yield.
  •  We also have abundant historical data of parameters such as rainfall patterns, satellite images, yield records, etc.
  •  Using this data, AI can predict and make intelligent decisions for an efficient water supply.
