Can you play games with your mind alone?
- It does sound like a Sci-Fi movie!
- A Boston-based startup, Neurable, intends to make this a reality.
- They’re developing a brain–computer interface that is accurate and fast enough to play games in virtual reality (VR).
How does it work?
- Neurable decodes brain activity to determine what a person wants to do.
- It uses dry electrodes to record brain activity using Electroencephalography (EEG).
- The device is supposed to be worn with an HTC VIVE VR headset.
- The headset is wireless and sends the recorded data to the computer using Bluetooth.
- Based on the recorded data, the software decides what action has to be taken in the game.
- High Accuracy
The previous version of the device was approximately 85% accurate in real-time.
- However, it was 99% accurate with a one-second delay.
- And the team says the current version will improve it further.
- Looks like the day isn’t far when we’ll play games hands-free and control them with our minds.
