IOT Based Livestock Management
- Did you know that India is the number one milk producer in the world?

- With around 53.578 crore farm animals, India has the world's highest livestock.
- For more than 205 Lakh people in India, livestock is a source of subsidiary income
Livestock management is a part of the livelihood of many farmers.
- To monitor the health, grazing patterns etc. of the cattle, farmers follow various manual procedures.
- As manual checking helps only in identifying the external symptoms, internal medical conditions are often missed out.

- Also, managing and keeping track of the cattle manually is time-consuming and is not very reliable.
- To overcome such scenarios, IoT is now giving its helping hand.
How does IoT work here?
- The cattle are given a wearable collar or tag which have battery-powered sensors.
- The sensors monitor the location, temperature, blood pressure, heart rate of animals, and wirelessly send the data in near-real-time to farmers’ devices.
- Real-time alerts enable them to immediately identify if any cattle is affected.
This helps in:
- Real-time monitoring for the health and vitality of cattle
- Track grazing animals to prevent loss and to identify grazing patterns.
- Allows farmers to check on the individual health and location of each animal in the herd.
- Monitor readiness to mate or give birth, preventing the loss of new calves and optimizing breeding practices.
