Cyber Warfare
What is Cyber Warfare?
- Cyber Warfare is an online attack on a nation by another nation or groups that operate to harm a country.
- It aims to weaken an enemy’s military, civil infrastructure, or to influence the thinking of citizens.
- Unlike standard weapons of destruction, Cyber Warfare is challenging to trace.
Types of Cyber Warfare

- Propaganda - Influencing the minds of the people living in the targeted country by spreading disinformation.
- Espionage - Spying on another country to steal secrets.
- Denial-of-service-attack- Flooding a website with fake requests, forcing the site to process those requests, thereby making it unavailable for real users.
Critical Infrastructure - Hacking the electrical power grid, oil supply chain etc. could give an attacker the ability to disable communications, transport etc.
- Economic Disruption - Attacking the computer networks of economic facilities like stock markets, payment systems, or banks.
- Surprise Cyberattack - Massive strikes that catch the enemy off guard, weakening their defences. It’s like Pearl Harbor or the 9/11 attack happening in a digital space.
